About two weeks ago, I went up to Wisconsin on a vacation. There I conversed with old friends, swam, etc. However, there was one thing that stood out room other vacations: Meeting multiple political figures at a dinner.
Scott Walker is running for the governor of Wisconsin. His opponent, Jim Doyle, has done a wonderful joib of being Liberal. Mr. Walker has a huge success in Milwaukee, the largest city, as mayor. He brought major reforms and reduced debt by at least 40%.
Jim Doyle, on the other hand, is an idiot. Don’t believe me? Perhaps you have heard of Kleenex, the tissue. Well, that is manuactured by Kimberly-Clark, Inc. Kimberly-Clark USED to be based in Wisconsin. Ater a year or two o Jim Doyle, they let or Texas. Why? I’ll tell you why: Jim Doyle raised the business taxes to the point where Wisconsin is now number 4 in the nation for business tax. When Kimberly-Clark left, so did a lot of jobs.
When I went to the dinner, I immediately saw Congressman Vern Ehlers, who would later be speaking.
Throughout the dinner, Mr. Walker pointed out the flaws of our governor, and our state, and what he wanted to do to fix them. If I had to vote in the 2010 election, I would put my vote on Mr. Walker. You can visit his site here.
EDIT: I apologize for mistakes. I knew Mr. Walker was in a position of power of Milwaukee, so I incorrectly assumed it was the city. As it turns out, he is the executive for the county, not the city.
Tired of Jim Doyle? Then go to http://www.recalldoyle.com. Thousands have already volunteered to circulate petitions to boot him out of office. Wisconsinites have been taxed enough already!
Ummmm County Executive Scott Walker has never ever been the Mayor of Milwaukee. Good to know you don’t even know Scott Walker’s position.
In fact his record in Milwaukee County has been the slow death to our mass transit system, and a long decline of our park system. Hardly a success.
Mr Reid:
I am sure you have heard of the economic crisis. depsit this,Milwaukee County recorded a budget surplus in 2008 thanks to Mr. Walker.
Mr Walker also cut the county debt by approx. 10%. The things you describe, Mr Reid, are due to Mr. Walker realizing the government has no business in people’s lives.
Furthermore, you must realize that the parks in Milwaukee County aren’t doing badly. If the decline of our park system was “long”, then it was safe to say that it isn’t solely Mr. Walker’s fault.
@xijivuli Umm Walker himself predicts a shortfall for this year… You might note he is pushing for a 35 hour workweek to save money. Further he pushed to issue $400 million in debt, which will likely change your 10% significantly, and will possibly cause another pension fund issue down the road… (sell debt to then invest… sounds like margin trading to me… dangerous)
Also I’ll again point out he is not the Mayor! as you state in your post.
As far as the parks he’s cut staff and funding regularly, closed pools and so on… The transit system he has managed to wreck, but route cuts, fare increases, deferred maintenance, using capital funds for operational costs, and so on.
Mr Reid, if you could provide a source verifiying your statements, I would like to see them.

OTHER NOTES:
Jim Doyle has done a worse job than Mr. Walker could hope to do. For instance, he made two major companies run — Kimberly Clark, and Harley-Davidson– run from Wisconsin due to high taxes. The wisconsin deficit of 6 billion is 4th largest in the nation. Jim Doyle has no clue what he is doing.
